Apprentice Administrator (Public Health and Housing)

Job description

We are offering an exciting opportunity where you “earn and learn”. This apprenticeship pathway will give you the hands on experience, knowledge and confidence to lead you into your chosen career and give you the chance to fully realise your potential within a fast paced and proactive organisation.

The Public Health and Housing team is essential to enforcing standards in the private rented sector. We investigate housing, noise, public health and nuisance complaints, work to bring empty homes back into use and improve properties to the decent home standard through grants. We also manage stray dog control, caravan and traveller sites, are licensing and planning consultees plus much more.

You will be supporting the Public Health and Housing Officers in providing an effective and efficient administration service.  This will include the administrative function for the disabled facilities grant to support people to live in their homes.   The role offers huge variety so no two days will be the same.

Whilst working, you will complete a level 3 apprenticeship qualification in Business Administration, for which you will be entitled to paid study time to complete; this is linked to the national apprenticeship scheme.  You will have the opportunity to gain valuable work experience, learning and develop new skills whilst building your confidence along the way.

You do not need any work experience, but you will need to be willing to learn, demonstrate good attention to detail, have good IT skills; and have GCSE’s 9 to 4 (formerly A*-C) in Maths and English or equivalent. You must also meet the requirements to be eligible for an apprenticeship.

Why work for us?

In return we offer a variety of excellent benefits, together with support and supervision. To find out more about being an apprentice at West Suffolk Council, visit our Apprenticeship page to meet our current apprentices.
