We have an exciting opportunity to contribute towards improving and protecting the health and wellbeing of people in North Somerset.
We’re looking for a talented Children’s and Young People’s Public Health Manager to join our Health Improvement Team in the Public Health and Regulatory Services Directorate at North Somerset Council.
North Somerset Council oversees the delivery of a range of health improvement programmes, relating to children and young people’s health and wellbeing, physical activity, mental health and wellbeing, workplace health and food and nutrition.
In this important role, you will have specific responsibility for leading workstreams relating to Children and Young People’s health within the Health Improvement Service.
You will plan, commission, develop, implement and evaluate a range of health improvement programmes across maternity, early years (0-5 years) and school-aged years (5-19 years) domains of the Healthy Child Programme.
This includes responsibility for commissioning health visiting, school nursing and any related 0-19 public health services to ensure delivery of the council’s ambitions for this age group.
You will analyse, interpret and utilise health data and intelligence to identify local needs and to inform practice. You will have line management responsibility for members of the Children’s and Young Peoples Public Health Team and will work with the team to contribute to service improvements and strategy, informing policies and embedding new ways of working to improve outcomes and reduce health inequalities in the North Somerset population.
About you
You will support the Public Health Team in achieving core public health objectives namely improving health and reducing health inequalities, protecting and improving health, and contributing to the quality of local public health services.
This will be evidenced by your commitment to addressing inequalities in health and wellbeing.
You will have a highly developed and current knowledge of public health strategy, policy and guidance. You will have experience of service procurement and contract management, and the development and improvement of services.
You will have practical experience of managing programmes and delivering services, as well as monitoring and evaluation.
You will have high level interpersonal and communication skills. You will have the ability to capture, analyse, interpret and present complex information, evidence and data, for the purposes of service improvement.
