Kirklees, in West Yorkshire, is firmly focused on the future. Our vision is to create a district with a strong, sustainable economy that offers a great quality of life to its residents - leading to thriving communities, growing businesses, high prosperity and low inequality, and where people enjoy better health throughout their lives. Kirklees is proud of it’s diverse communities but COVID-19 has brought inequalities, and health inequalities, in our communities to the fore. Our Public Health functions are critical to our commitment to addressing this.
We are looking for two talented, innovative and collaborative Consultants in Public Health to join our team, where a commitment to inclusion and tackling inequalities are at the heart of everything we do.
You will provide expert public health leadership and advice to both organisations in the development of the population health offer, particularly in the context of improving or transforming services within Locala’s community healthcare offer and further developing both the Council and Locala’s strategic and operational relationships with local primary care services, including through appropriate engagement with and providing support to our local Primary Care Networks and Clinical Commissioning Group.
A collaborative style and an approach that does with, not to, our communities is key. A skilled communicator at all levels you’ll be able to engage and influence, with just the right level of diplomacy and challenge, across the partnership and beyond to bring public health priorities to the fore. Flexible and resilient, you work in partnership, driven by making a difference to our communities and reducing health inequalities.
You must be Faculty of Public Health registered Consultant in Public Health (included on the UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) or GMC Specialist Register with a license to practice.)
Your behaviours and style are just as important to us as the experience you bring. Inclusion, kindness and pride have shone through during the pandemic and are at the heart of our Council Plan.
