Public Health Scotland is a new organisation, set up to provide system leadership, working with stakeholders across to Scotland to tackle the health inequalities that persist in many of our communities. It’s an exciting time to join the organisation, with PHS at the forefront of Scotland’s efforts to tackle Coronavirus recovery and its implications across society.
We are looking for a Head of Healthcare Public Health to provide professional leadership, management and specialist advice on healthcare public health issues within a national context. You will be focussed on transforming Scotland’s public health system, through effective working relationships with stakeholders such as NHS Scotland, Scottish Government and partner organisations.
You will be joining a new senior team, working to effect change to improve outcomes for people in communities and to develop and enable a Public Health Scotland culture with a focus on impact and solutions.
You will be a public health consultant and experienced leader who has already worked at a senior level within a large, complex organisation. You will have a track record of working with boards and delivering and embedding real change in your sector and across organisational boundaries. You will have vision and imagination and will be change, action and results oriented. A key element of the role will be leading and developing the multi-disciplinary teams that you will line manage.
The post holder must be registered on the Specialist Register of the General Medical/Dental Council in Public Health or on the UK Public Health (Specialist) Register. Applications will be considered from Specialist Registrars with Part B MFPH if they can evidence expected CCT award within six months of the interview date. Applications will also be considered from specialists who can demonstrate that an application has been made to the UK Public Health Register and that acceptance is anticipated within 6 months.
The post will report directly to the Director of Public Health Science in Public Health Scotland.
