Head of Research and Evaluation

Job description

The successful candidate will be appointed to either the Medical and Dental Consultant salary scale (£79,957 - £103,806) or Agenda for Change Band 9 for non-medical staff  (£93,735-£108,075)
Base:  Remote working anywhere in the UK, with the requirement to travel to various sites across Wales

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Public Health Data, Knowledge and Research Directorate of Public Health Wales leading the innovative Research & Evaluation Division.  You will be responsible for the development of research and evaluation programmes responsive to key challenges in public health, as well as the development of research delivery to support the strategic outcomes of Public Health Wales.

On a national basis you will work across Public Health Wales, academia (across the UK and internationally), research funders (including Health and Care Research Wales and UK funding bodies), and other key stakeholders to maximise the development and delivery of impactful public health research and evaluation. The successful post holder will be able to strongly demonstrate experience and success impacting policy.

The successful post holder will be responsible for ensuring Public Health Wales both undertakes and support others in undertaking high quality research and evaluation. Such activities should inform action within the organisation’s own work and that of other stakeholders across Wales, in a work programme which spans sectors from NHS, Local Government and national policy.

Working within Research and Evaluation you will be responsible for the delivery of the organisational research and evaluation strategy, to strengthen Public Health Wales active involvement in research and influencing the wider research partners, as the National Public Health Institute for Wales.
