To complement our existing team the All Wales Acute Response (AWARe) is seeking seven enthusiastic and motivated nurses or practitioners who are looking to start a career in Health Protection. These posts are available at 7.0 WTE on a permanent basis.
The provision of health protection services is set out as a statutory function of Public Health Wales. Post holders will be an integral part of AWARe for a range of health protection issues. These include receiving notifications of infectious disease, assessing them and formulating a response to them in conjunction with senior colleagues, as well as advising other health professionals and members of the public on matters relating to health protection.
The post holder will undergo ongoing development and education through a comprehensive induction programme to build on existing knowledge and develop skills to provide specialist health protection advice and meet competencies required to undertake the role.
Successful candidates will work with the Professional Lead Consultant for Health Protection, the Consultants in Communicable Disease Control (CCDCs)/Consultants in Health Protection (CHPs), the Central Operational Team and administrative staff to ensure the provision of a high quality, effective and efficient health protection service in Wales.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
