Health Protection and Screening Nurse Specialist

Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Division of Public Health and Health Strategy for a nurse specialist to provide additional support to the health protection team during the continuing COVID-19 pandemic and remobilisation of health protection, immunisation and screening services. This post will be responsible for the planning and delivery of an integrated health protection service encompassing the clinical services of communicable disease control (including COVID-19 management), environmental health hazards, development and implementation of immunisation programmes and national screening programmes.

You will join an established Public Health team with health protection, health promotion, health intelligence and planning and development functions in place.

The postholder will be responsible for:

the delivery of a Board-wide, comprehensive, proactive and reactive health protection service with a particular focus on COVID-19
contributing to the strategic development of the health protection service
developing, supporting the remobilisation, implementation, and monitoring the effectiveness of  NHS immunisation and screening programmes across NHS Western Isles.
There are ample opportunities for continuing professional development with robust links across the North of Scotland Public Health Network, and to national services.
