Homeless Officer (Health Inequalities)

Job description

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for 2 Homeless Officers (Health Inequalities) who will work within the Council’s Housing Options Team to assist in preventing homelessness and enabling clients to sustain tenancies through engagement with health and support services.

The focus of the role is to improve the health and well-being of homeless clients by creating partnerships and working with clients to engage or re-engage with health services. The role will identify any barriers to accessing services for homeless clients and help create a clear pathway.

The post will assist the Homeless Reduction Officers to meet actions identified on a clients Housing Needs Assessment and Personalised Housing Plan around health.

The successful applicant should have a background in working with hard to reach, vulnerable groups and be able to adapt their approach when engaging clients to ensure they are supported and empowered to move towards independent living.

Applicants should possess a minimum Level 3 NVQ qualification in a related subject (i.e. Housing, Healthcare, Support, Coaching) or equivalent experience of working within those areas. You should possess a supportive, patient, but determined nature and have a passion for supporting vulnerable people to enhance their lives within independent living.

You should have a knowledge and understanding of the challenges vulnerable homeless clients face and the ability to identify any health or safeguarding needs.

You should also have a good track record of creating pathways and building partnerships with both internal and external organisations.
