Overview of the role purpose
I am a physical activity/health specialist delivering an important project to increase opportunities for people severely affected by mental illness and their carers to be physically active; supporting people to improve their physical health and quality of life.
Working in two alliance areas, I have a deep-rooted understanding of each place, the existing infrastructure in relation to physical activity opportunities, local community groups and an understanding of the changes required to the system to ensure physical activity is effectively and sustainably embedded.
I have a sound understanding of co-production and actively engage with experts by experience to co-produce local interventions to support people to improve their physical health.
I will work closely with the Physical Activity Programme Manager to deliver the place-based physical activity programme. I will also work closely with the Community Mental Health Unit managers in the alliance areas to ensure a joined-up approach.
Additionally, I work closely with internal teams to ensure awareness and understanding of the project, including, co-production, operations, communications, and wider Policy & Practice teams.
Regular travel to the alliance areas will be required where necessary to fulfil the requirements of the role.
