Public Health Wales

Public Health Policy Officer

Job description

This role is an exciting opportunity to support Public Health Wales’ policy function and advocacy work in order to help deliver on the organisation’s Long Term Strategy.

Addressing health inequalities and their causes requires concerted and coordinated action in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and as Wales takes on future challenges such as climate change. Public Health Wales has a key role to play in this through policy recommendations, advocacy and implementation.

As Public Health Policy Officer, you will work closely with colleagues across the organisation and externally to support the development of evidence-based policy insight, policy proposals, and best practice guidance. You will engage key decision-makers with the findings of work in order to achieve positive change and support the protection and improvement of public health and reduction of health inequalities in Wales.

In this role you will be part of Public Health Wales’ Polisi team and work closely with the wider WHO Collaborating Centre on Investment for Health and Well-being that it sits within.

We welcome applicants to the role who wish to work full-time or part-time and are supportive of flexible working patterns.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

PLEASE ENSURE YOU HAVE READ THE JOB DESCRIPTION AND PERSONAL SPECIFICATION TO ENSURE YOU MEET THE ESSENTIAL CRITERIA FOR THIS POST BEFORE APPLYING.
