Suffolk County Council has an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Health Improvement Commissioner to join our team based in Ipswich. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis, and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £50,743 per annum (pro rata for part time).

About the Senior Health Improvement Commissioner role:

This is a great opportunity to join the Health Improvement Team in the Public Health and Communities Directorate, working with a range of stakeholders to improve population health behaviours as well as developing prevention approaches.

The Senior Health Improvement Commissioner (Healthy Behaviours and Prevention) role is based at Endeavour House, in Ipswich, but has a county-wide remit. If you are an experienced Health Improvement Commissioner and would like to translate national and local policy into practice, working together with communities to improve health outcomes for the people of Suffolk, we would like to hear from you.

You will provide strategic leadership for Tobacco Control, Adult Obesity, NHS Health Checks and developing Healthy Behaviours models, along with other programmes of work that prevent ill health.

Your responsibilities as our Senior Health Improvement Commissioner will include:

Line managing a small team
Managing a budget
Being the Strategic Commissioner for the Integrated Health Lifestyle Service
Collaborating with stakeholders in Suffolk to inform the implementation of key prevention initiatives within: the Suffolk Integrated Care Systems; Adult Community Services; Children and Young People's Services; Clinical Commissioning Groups; acute hospitals and Community teams; Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation Trust; and the Voluntary and Community Sector, to increase the scale, quality and consistency of Prevention in Suffolk.
Requirements needed to become our Senior Health Improvement Commissioner:

The ability to work within political and democratic systems and with a range of organisational cultures to improve health outcomes and reduce health inequalities
Experience of strategic leadership of the design and management of programmes and projects to implement national and local policies and strategies using evidence-based approaches.
We positively encourage the use of technology to communicate and engage, but in this role, you may need to operate across a wide and rural area, so it would be beneficial for you to either hold a full and current driving licence and have access to personal transport or meet the mobility requirements of the role through other reasonable and suitable means.

Due to the current situation with COVID-19, we have limitations on staff working in our offices and most of the staff continue to work from home.
