Sport and Physical Activity Development Officer

Job description

You will be focused predominantly within one team function, and responsible for development and delivery of activities, events and programmes aimed at increasing and supporting sustainable participation in physical activity and sport and in many cases bringing about behaviour change.

You will work as part of a team to develop, coach/lead or supervise the delivery of appropriate activities, schemes, events and training courses working to increase capacity and resilience of individuals, communities and clubs/groups.

You will work in partnership and will need to establish contact with individuals, agencies voluntary organisations and groups involved in developing physical activity and sport to promote interest and sustained involvement.

Requirements for this job:

Experience of working in a sport/physical activity field in order to provide a detailed working knowledge of sport and physical activity
Experience of developing and delivering sport and physical activity programmes
Experience of engagement with a range of partners
Experience of engagement with individuals and groups to understand needs and deliver appropriate services
Ability to communicate with and motivate individuals and groups
Experience of collating information and contributing to reports
Ability to work as part of a team
Awareness of funding opportunities
Understanding of New Council and how the work of the Everybody Active contributes
Enthusiastic and committed to making a difference for local people
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends to meet the needs and availability of our customers
Technical requirement/qualification required in the function: For example: A knowledge in relation to specialism, an understanding of PAS development at a local level, appropriate level 2 coaching/leadership/health related PAS award, specialist or NVQ Level 3 or 4 or equivalent experience...
