The West Sussex County Council Public Health team has an exciting opportunity for an Advanced Public Health Practitioner to work within its health protection team. The team works with a variety of stakeholders including UK Health Security Agency, NHS England, NHS Sussex, and local resilience forums to lead and/or support the system health protection function. Whilst the health protection function is varied, the team leads and/or supports the following portfolio areas for the local authority:
What are we looking for?
The Advanced Public Health Practitioner is a senior role within the public health team and will work across the full breadth of the health protection portfolio to meet business need. This will include working with public health leads and other APHP and Programme Managers to lead, support and implement key pieces of work from the health protection strategic delivery plan.
You'll need to demonstrate an understanding of local government and partnership working and experience of working in a public health environment. You will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to confidently write for different audiences and purposes. You will be able to influence and persuade a wide range of stakeholders. You will thrive on working on your own initiative, whilst working within broad practice, using your discretion to develop and determine the overall services provided to the customer and assist with creation and implementation of necessary policies and procedures linked to the service.
This post reports directly to Public Health Lead and will receive support from the lead as well as the wider team. The successful applicant will also be supported in their career development with opportunities for further learning and training.
