Assistant Director/Consultant in Public Health

Job description

Bolton Council is looking to recruit two Consultants in Public Health to provide public health expertise and leadership within the local authority, the health and care system and the wider partnership. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team passionate about achieving better health outcomes and reducing inequalities for the people of Bolton.

You will play a pivotal role in improving the health and well-being of the communities in Bolton, helping to deliver Bolton's’ Vision 2030. You will support the Director of Public Health in achieving core public health objectives, including reducing health inequalities, protecting health, and contributing to the quality of local health and social care services.
You will work with and lead an able and enthusiastic team of public health practitioners and insight specialists and working closely with commissioning colleagues. You will be a team player who is highly effective at making change happen. 
Bolton Council is an approved training location for Public Health Specialty training and you will have the opportunity for involvement in the public health training scheme supervising and supporting future consultants in public health.
The post-holders will undertake and contributed to programmes of work spanning health improvement, health protection, healthcare public health and health intelligence. The 1.0FTE will lead on health intelligence and aspects of healthcare public health and support health protection whilst the 0.6FTE role will lead on health protection and support aspects of healthcare public health with the precise details of lead areas to be confirmed with the post-holders.

Candidates must be included on the GMC Specialist Register in Public Health, or UK Public Health Register and are required to remain in good standing with the Faculty of Public Health through CPD activities.
