Job Title: Commissioning Officers

Location: Hertford

Salary Range: £35,745 pa progressing to £39,880 pa

Hours: 37 per week

Contract: Permanent

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity, within Public Health service supporting a range of functions relating to improving health outcomes across the local population. The department commissions a range of services from public, private and third sector organisations to deliver essential public health services, and we have developed quality assurance approaches for ensuring that services deliver safe and effective services.

The Public Health team is seeking to recruit a highly motivated Commissioning and Monitoring Officer role within the Public Health Team to work with the Commissioning Manager around procuring and monitoring of various public health contracts including primary care, pharmacies, health protection, and public health databases.

You will work within the Contracts and Commissioning Team where you will get a good understanding of the range of services in which Public Health commission, the procurement process as well as contract monitoring and quality assurance processes. The role will require proactive and effective joined-up working with a range of departments and colleagues across the County Council including Children Services, Adult Care Services as well as Districts and commissioned providers.

The successful candidate will work, both autonomously and as part of a wider team, and will include contributing to strategy delivery plan, advising on best practice and providing input on service design

Skills & Experience

You will be able to demonstrate the necessary skills and expertise to develop and maintain robust links with partners and be able to involve stakeholders in service development with ideally a background in commissioning, service development and project management qualification, skills.

The role will be challenging and varied, so you'll need to demonstrate a flexible and adaptable approach, and be able to resolve issues and problems, to ensure that tasks are completed to a high standard and that deadlines are met. You will also need a can-do attitude and the ability to work as part of well-established team.

You will be highly motivated, able to use your initiative when appropriate, and have a proven track record of working effectively in busy roles. You will have the flexibility to work on a variety of different tasks at any one time, prioritising your work and managing tight deadlines.  Patience, precision and accuracy will be important requirements.

You will be a proficient user of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook and be able to learn to use new IT systems and equipment quickly and easily.
