Job description

The post:NHSGGC is one of the largest National Health Service providers and employers in the UK. NHSGGC provides services to almost a quarter of the entire Scottish population. The public health issues within the community are significant and challenging. The geographical area covered by NHSGGC is diverse; it covers both urban and rural locations in the Glasgow and Clyde area. As such it presents considerable challenges in ensuring that the health needs of the population are met.This is a joint post between Public Health Scotland and NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde. The substantive employer will be Public Health Scotland, with a long term, rolling Service Level Agreement with NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde.The candidate:We are looking for a Consultant in Public Health/Public Health Medicine to provide clinical and public health leadership in relation to the specific areas of primary, social & community care services to enable policy and strategy creation for the delivery of key public health goals.You will be joining teams embedded within the NHS, but working closely with Community Planning Partnerships, Local Authorities, Integrated Health and Social Care Partnerships, third sector, resilience partnerships and others.You will be focussed on transforming Scotland’s public health system, through effective working relationships with stakeholders such as NHS Scotland, Scottish Government and partner organisations.For NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde the post holder will participate in the delivery of health protection out of hours, 1:7 pro-rata, and during periods when surge capacity is required.You must be registered on the Specialist Register of the General Medical/Dental Council in Public Health or on the UK Public Health (Specialist) Register and be a Competent Person under the provision of the Public Health Act (Scotland) 2008.You will report directly to the PHS Head of Clinical and Public Health Intelligence & Research and NHSGGC Head of Health Services and Equalities Section, Public Health Directorate.For further information on this post please see below video:https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/728763277/7bb64b6204
