An exciting opportunity has arisen to join County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust and to work across the Durham and Darlington place based systems. This builds on the work underway to address healthcare inequalities and to ensure the unjust differences in health and care access, experience and outcomes across the population are addressed. This is a key role for the place based systems and will provide population healthcare leadership as well as support the Durham and Darlington system in their ambitious plans to improve health of the population, tackle health inequalities, ensure efficient use of resources as well as the NHS contribution to addressing social determinants of health and economic regeneration.
The Trust executive and senior leadership teams as well as the board have received a number of reports on the role of the organisation in population health and tackling health inequalities providing a very good foundation for this role to further embed this approach across the organisation and across the system. This role will playa key part in supporting integration of prevention, health and care across the two pace based systems
We are looking to appoint an innovative and enthusiastic Consultant in Public Health with strong health intelligence and technical skills, who will be able to provide a population health insight into our planning and delivery of care, and support delivery and development of the best value services
This is a senior appointment and you will be responsible for shaping and commissioning significant strategic programmes across the life course and take a lead role on public health along with contributing to the wider determinants of health.
You will be expected to demonstrate strong leadership and change management skills, working with partners at a senior level across the health and social care system and with a real sense of drive to make a difference to local residents.
Required Qualifications: Applicants will be expected to be included in the GMC Specialist Register/GDC Specialist List/UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) for Public Health Specialists
We are open to applicants who wish to work flexibly whether that be less than full-time, hybrid working between Trust sites and home or any other flexible pattern
