Consultant in Public Health - Part-time 28 Hours

Job description

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic Consultant to complement our Health Care Public Health Team within the Directorate of Public Health and Health Policy, NHS Lothian.  Your role will be to provide Consultant level expert leadership for the Non-Cancer Screening Programmes across Lothian, as part of a department that provides a comprehensive public health function..

Working closely with key stakeholders and colleagues nationally, regionally and locally you will support the remobilisation of screening programmes, oversee quality and effectiveness and work to reduce inequalities in uptake.

The successful candidate will provide leadership, management and expert specialist advice on issues relation to Screening and will manage a team of staff working on screening and early detection.

This is a permanent part time position (28 hours/7 programmed activities per week). We are happy to discuss; other, more flexible arrangements such as secondments or job share). 

The main departmental office base is at Waverley Gate, located in central Edinburgh, with excellent travel links to surrounding areas. Remote working has been the norm during the COVID-19 pandemic and we are currently exploring a hybrid working model to support our staff back to the workplace.  The successful candidate will  be required to be a  competent person under the Public Health (Scotland) Act 2008 and participate in the Out of Hours on-call rota for health protection.

Candidates must be included in the GMC Full and Specialist Register with a license to practice / GDC Specialist List (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview)/UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) for Public Health Specialists (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview).
