Head of Programme - Knowledge & Intelligence

Job description

The Public Health Division is recruiting to a substantive permanent Head of Programme to lead our ambitious work on Knowledge & Intelligence.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a successful, established and well-resourced team delivering on some of the most exciting cutting edge public health interventions in a world class city. Delivering on your responsibilities will require working in a fast paced and challenging environment, being held to account for delivery, a strong commitment to tackling health inequalities and a high degree of personal resilience.
We are looking for an individual with excellent public health skills and experience, keen to develop their senior management experience and leadership potential.
You will be responsible for leading the Public Health Knowledge & Intelligence function, and manage a team of experienced Health Intelligence Analysts. You will also be responsible for leading the development and production of the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment on behalf of the Health & Wellbeing Board, engaging partners across the Council, NHS and Voluntary & Community Sector.
Your programme areas will include data and analytics, improving the monitoring of health outcomes and inequalities, along with service and programme evaluation. Although you will be based within the Public Health Division, you will play a leadership role in the area of data and analytics across the Council and local NHS.
About you:
You must possess expert core public health competencies including epidemiology, needs assessment, evaluation, using evidence to inform decision making, strong partnership skills and an ability to lead service and systems change. Excellent communication including presentation and high standards of written skills will be essential. Workforce development is key and you will be expected to bring the best out in your team.
