An exciting opportunity has arisen for registered Nurses to join NHS Ayrshire & Arran’s Public Health Department within the Health Protection Team.
You will provide advice on health protection issues including communicable diseases, infection prevention control and environmental health hazards and will assist in the implementation of the public health response in relation to health protection incidents and outbreak management. The Team will have a number of nurse lead topic areas, to include vaccine preventable disease, gastrointestinal disease, blood borne viruses such as Hepatitis B, TB, environmental health.
You will work under the supervision and leadership of a multi-disciplinary team consisting of Consultants in Public Health, Health Protection Specialist Nurses, Programme Managers and other support staff. These posts are based at Afton House, Ailsa Hospital (with opportunities to undertake remote working), one is 37.5 hours, the other is 22.5 and there is a requirement for flexible evening and weekend working on some occasions. These posts are permanent.
Training in health protection will be provided and applicants will be:
- Registered with the NMC as a 1st level nurse
- Educated to degree level or can demonstrate equivalent relevant experience in a health related subject
- Evidence of relevant post registration education, training, development and experience.
- It would be desirable for applicants to have knowledge and experience within health protection, infection control and / or public health. However, full health protection training will be provided for the successful applicant.
A full UK driving license and car owner is essential.
