Healthy Schools Coordinator

We have an exciting opportunity to join Hackney Council as the ‘Healthy Schools Coordinator’ to work in partnership with key stakeholders to coordinate and deliver health promotion interventions within school settings across Hackney.
The postholder will work strategically across education and health services and use an evidence-based "whole school approach" to improve the health and wellbeing of children and young people. The role will support schools to improve their environments, reduce health inequalities and support pupils, staff and the wider community to develop health & wellbeing behaviours.
This role will enable the Council to understand and recognise best practice in Hackney schools, while supporting schools to embed a strategic, evidence-based whole school approach to health and wellbeing. The work will also help schools to demonstrate to parents that they are taking evidence-based actions to improve their pupils’ health. This role is about creating a trusting relationship with schools and a local set of standards for schools to consider as part of this work.
The postholder will have strong verbal and written communication skills, develop and be able to deliver training to stakeholders and to think creatively.
The remit of the role will closely align with some of the Hackney Mayor Manifesto commitments including development of a ‘Healthy Schools Charter’.
This role will be based within Hackney Education and will work closely with the Public Health Team across City and Hackney.
