This post forms part of Health Protection, which aims to provide public health protection services to the population of Wales. These services include, but are not restricted to: Surveillance and Vaccine Programmes, Sexual Health, Prisons, Substance misuse, HARP, and AWARe, amongst others.
The post-holder will be responsible for the effective operational delivery of an All Wales service.The post holder might be required to travel across Wales and the UK.
The role would require supporting the different functions of Health Protection and its programmes ensuring that the operational day to day running of the systems is maintained and managed in a timely manner, but working primarily with the Communicable Disease Surveillance Centre and Vaccine Programme
This is an Operational Manager position designed to provide direct support to the Senior Management of Health Protection at a time when our teams are expanding fast to respond to the requirements of the pandemic and wider programmes responses. The teams handle a great deal of sensitive information and are often the first point of contact for members of the public and external agencies contacting PHW in relation to communicable diseases, including Covid-19.
The role will be varied and will include supporting colleagues as well as managing specific projects designed to ensure appropriate systems and processes are in place. You will also be involved in developing new ways of working during a challenging and fast paced time at work. You will be joining the team at a time of transition when there is much to do to in order to support staff through change as well as keeping essential services running in a safe and effective way.
The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience of working in an operational management role, managing performance to agreed standards and simultaneously managing several projects. You will have excellent management and leadership skills with a track record of successfully responding to sudden and unexpected demands.
