Policy Advisers - Health and Social Care Spending

Are you looking for an opportunity to work on some of the highest priorities in government? We are recruiting for 4 Policy Advisers to join us in the Health and Social Care Spending team!
About the Team
The Health and Social Care Spending team is responsible for HM Treasury's oversight of over £170 billion of annual government spending in health and adult social care - accounting for almost a quarter of all public spending! We are made up of people from a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences, including from both within and outside government. We are friendly, buzzy and completely committed to personal development.
About the Job
The core responsibilities for these roles will include:

  • Providing high quality advice and briefing to HM Treasury ministers on key issues related to government spending
  • Researching and scrutinising policy proposals and cases to reach evidence-based conclusions, ensuring value for money in government spending
  • Building a knowledge base of the relevant budgets, trends and context for additional funding requests, and supporting work on fiscal events such as Budgets and Spending Reviews
  • Developing policy expertise by understanding the political and policy environment and applying this in your everyday work
  • Developing and nurturing positive relationships with a range of partners across government and beyond
    You will also contribute to the wider success of the team and group, including by responding to correspondence and helping to build a positive, collaborative and inclusive working environment.

    You’ll need to be able to balance multiple priorities, understand different perspectives and deliver clear and compelling messages.
