Lewisham Stop Smoking Service wishes to appoint a Pregnancy and Community Specialist Stop Smoking Advisor to support pregnant smokers and those with under fives as well as offering a generic community service.
The advisor will work closely with the midwifery and health visiting services in developing referral pathways and giving support to those who want to quit smoking. They will call everyone referred or offer information, encouragement and help to stop. They will arrange to see people at clinics, by home visit or in community settings. They will promote smokefree homes and cars to protect others from secondhand smoke with everyone, including those who are not ready to stop smoking.
The advisor will also run community-based stop smoking interventions in a variety of one to one and group settings across the borough to support smokers who live, work, study or have a GP in Lewisham.
The Advisor will take an active part in all appropriate initiatives and partnership forums and refer clients to partners for a range of other support services. They will keep referral and quit data to evaluate the service and monitor performance and give feedback to referring agencies.
This is a Fixed Term /Secondment Contract to end 21st August 2023
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual who can produce results in a challenging environment. As the pregnancy and community specialist stop smoking advisor it will be your responsibility to respond to midwife referrals and deliver support to pregnant smokers whilst also maintaining a high volume of clients in your community clinics.
This role requires an ability to manage time and resources effectively to ensure that you hit targets and provide highly effective support for smokers in Lewisham .
Candidates with experience of providing stop smoking interventions and delivering training would be ideally suited to this role, as would individuals with clinical experience in the community setting.
