The Division of Population Medicine, School of Medicine are seeking to appoint an established academic public health leader, looking to lead on high quality public health research within the Division of Population Medicine. You will work with the Division Director and Senior Leadership Team in further developing the research and teaching activities of the Division of Population Medicine.
You will provide leadership in academic public health, including the development of high-quality public health research that complements ongoing activities within the Division.
We would welcome applications from individuals who are academics or from Consultants in Public Health Medicine/Public Health Consultants from multi-professional backgrounds.
The post is full time, open-ended and available immediately.
Salary: The successful candidate will be paid on the appropriate Cardiff University Pay Scale based on their skills and experience. For Public Health Medicine academic appointments, the consultant pay scale will apply. For Public Health Consultants from multi-professional backgrounds, salary ranges will differ depending on the academic level offered. This position may also be eligible for salary enhancement via a market supplement.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will contribute to defining the strategic direction of the Division of Population Medicine to fulfil the ambition of the School of Medicine to improve population health and the quality of care for patients and the population. As a member of the Divisions Senior Leadership Team, you will be expected to make an active contribution to nurturing and sustaining a positive work culture within the Division and be a team player willing to take on responsibilities for implementing and managing key research, teaching and innovation strategies. It is expected your research outputs meet the Schools strategic key performance indicators.
In this leadership role, you will be required to inspire, and lead a collaborative research programme of work in preventive and public health medicine through interaction with stakeholders. You will be committed to academic leadership in the delivery of clinical and research education including in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
You will work with the Divisional Director and Senior Leadership Team in further developing the research and teaching activities of the Division of Population Medicine. This post is available for someone within an established academic public health career path wishing to progress or someone with suitable experience in a related field wishing to transfer over to an academic public health role.
