Programme Leader Specialist Community Nursing and Specialist Community Public Health Nursing

The School of Health and Social Work at the University of Hertfordshire has a long-established reputation as a centre for excellence for healthcare education. This is an exciting opportunity to join the School as a Programme Leader for Specialist Community Nursing and Specialist Community Public Health Nursing Programmes within the Primary Care Team, joining a supportive and friendly academic team.

Main duties & responsibilities

The Programme Leader, Specialist Community Nursing and Specialist Community Public Health Nursing is to the lead on the strategic development and operational delivery of our well-established post registration delivery of health visiting, school nursing, community children’s nursing, district nursing and general practice nursing.  You should have a strong commitment to developing and maintaining relationships with external partners and other stakeholders.

Skills and experience needed

Your teaching approach should be flexible, student focussed, and research informed, and you should possess excellent interpersonal skills. Previous experience of teaching within a higher education institution is essential. Demonstration of module/ programme leadership is desirable. You will have current knowledge of NMC requirements for specialist community nursing and specialist community public health nursing. You will have an awareness of the requirements for Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education and Ofsted.  You will be able to demonstrate evidence of leadership, teamworking and working autonomously as well as having excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience of successful partnership working with practice partners and students is essential.


Qualifications required

You must have live registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as a nurse or midwife in addition you should either hold current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery council as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse or a recordable qualification with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as a Specialist Community Nurse. You will hold a master’s degree or a Level 7 qualification such as a PgDip.  Commitment to doctoral study is desirable.
