Public Health Apprentice

Do you want to help shape/be part of/contribute the development of Redbridge helping the council to improve health outcomes and reduce health inequalities in Redbridge.

Our Public Health Apprentice role offers you the chance to start your career in public health and be involved in shaping _(or other descriptive words) _that impact on your local community (or other services, groups etc.)
This is a 3 year apprenticeship training programme to become a Public Health Practitioner gaining a BSc in Public Health (Hons). It is a unique opportunity to earn while you learn and we welcome an enthusiastic, dedicated team member committed to studying towards a degree level. We welcome applications with local community knowledge from within Redbridge. The apprenticeship will be fully funded by the council, and you will be given time off for study as required for the duration of the apprenticeship which is typically 3 years depending on any previous qualifications achieved.
Once you complete your apprenticeship there is the potential to move through the career progression levels within the team and continue your career with us.
You will work in specified areas of public health and across lead areas in line with the
learning on the degree programme and the business need. You will work across the three domains of public health as and when required:

  • Health Improvement
  • Health Protection
  • Healthcare Public Health
    To carry out this role successfully you will need to have good communication skills with strong interpersonal skills as you will be engaging with a wide range of stakeholders. An
    understanding of health inequalities and a willingness to develop your knowledge in this area is a must. Above all, you will show a passion for the work we are doing and the drive to achieve great results with a willingness to learn.
