Public Health Development and Commissioning Manager

Job description

The B&NES Public Health and Prevention team has an exciting opportunity and are recruiting for a Public Health Development and Commissioning Manager to lead on improving children and young people’s public health across B&NES.
 
Reporting to the Public Health Principal, the successful application will work in partnership within the wider Council and other partner organisations to develop, implement, evaluate and manage children’s public health programme strategies and initiatives in line with current local plans and national priorities.
 
Key areas of responsibility will focus on:

  • Specific areas of responsibility will be improving the public health of children and young people in B&NES
  • Leading the development and commissioning of a range of public health interventions and services for the population in B&NES
  • Providing professional advice for a range of partners to build public health capacity and capability
  • ** **
    We are looking for a dynamic individual who can say yes to the following:
    ** **

  • Do you have good up to date knowledge / experience of public health issues, policies and approaches particularly in relation to children and young people?
  • Do you have experience of project management and planning and evaluating public health interventions?
  • Do you have experience of procuring and commissioning services and monitoring performance of contracts and targets?
  • Are you well motivated, proactive and able to work creatively?
  • Do you have good communication and organisational skills?
  • Do you have experience of managing collaborative working and can build effective partnerships with key organisations?

    Your main place of work will be the award-winning, modern Civic Centre in Keynsham, halfway between Bath and Bristol, easily accessible via car or public transport, with a train station 5 minutes’ walk away.
