Public Health Officer

Job description

We are seeking to appoint three highly organised and experienced Public Health Officers to work in a growing and forwarding-thinking Public Health Team.
We have two roles supporting the Public Health Lead for Children and Young People; and one role supporting the Public Health Lead for Adults.
The postholders will work across the public health function and will be required to liaise with other areas/departments across the council and external partners too. The postholder will report to and support the relevant Public Health Lead, with a multitude of projects and developing partnerships to expand the work and reach of public health. You will be required to support project development, project monitoring and performance reporting, amongst other areas of business and team administration.
What you’ll be doing:

  • Support the relevant Public Health Lead in the strategic development and delivery of public health programmes and projects.
  • Provide administration and coordination of strategic developments and support to relevant Boards and partnership groups.
  • Design and implement methods for partnership working such as Task & Finish groups and ongoing partnership groups.
  • Support with monitoring performance, budgets and expenditure and other administrative processes.
  • Support with tasks and ad hoc requests from the public health team.
  • What you’ll have:

  • Strong organisational, and time management skills with an ability to sift through detail
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good Microsoft Office skills, and documentation management
  • An understanding of finance and budget management
  • To be naturally inquisitive, flexible, and open to change
