Public Health Officer x 2

Job description

A secondment opportunity would be considered for this post - this must be agreed by current line manager prior to applying for the vacancy
Are you passionate about improving Public Health outcomes and reducing health inequalities in Stoke-on-Trent?
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Public Health team.
There are 2 x Public Health Officer fixed term positions, until June 2025 within the Start Well and Health Protection public health teams.
These roles could also be a secondment opportunity, in agreement with your line manager for those with relevant transferable skills keen to gain some further experience in Public Health.
You will support the coordination of key Public Health work programmes, working collaboratively with partners to ensure they are developed, implemented and evaluated to a high standard.
You will have experience of project management and partnership working, and be a strong and confident communicator, with previous experience of working in public health or a related field.
This is a generic job role where postholders may be required to work across all domains of Public Health.
However, post holders will sit within one specific team:
1. Start Well – improving public health outcomes for babies, children and families in the city with a focus on best start in life and related programmes such as mandated 0 – 19 services, infant mortality reduction, perinatal & CYP mental health and wellbeing.
2. Health Protection - prevention and control of communicable diseases, assurance that vaccination against infectious diseases and national screening programmes promoting the early detection of disease are maximised, Health Protection preventive initiatives and action plans.
