Public Health Programme Support Officer

The Public Health Department is a progressive multi-disciplinary department committed to improving health and tackling inequalities in West Sussex. The Directorate also works closely with local agencies and partnerships to ensure the widest possible participation in health and health care agenda.
The Opportunity
Salary: £28,371 - £31,099 per annum
Working Pattern: Part time, 22.2 hours per week - flexible working available
**Contract Length: **Fixed term or Secondment, ending February 2024 to cover maternity leave
Location: County Hall, Chichester

As a Programme Support Officer, you will be part of the Living and Working Well team and act as a key member of the Public Health Directorate. You will be dealing with a complex range of issues in a fast-paced environment. Therefore, you will be required to work quickly, accurately and proactively to deliver high quality project management support to Consultants in Public Health and managers across a variety of topics.
As the post holder, you will be expected to use your initiative in ensuring matters are dealt with efficiently and appropriately. You will also need to be capable in prioritising your workload. At times you may be dealing with highly sensitive matters and confidentiality will be essential.
You will provide support to the Living and Working Well team on a range of key public health projects, programmes and topic areas. These include support to programmes including West Sussex Wellbeing, Smoking Cessation, weight management and NHS Health Check as well as health promotion campaigns and the business planning of the team.
What are we looking for?
As our successful Programme Support Officer, you will need to:

  • Be able to work quickly, accurately and proactively to deliver high quality project management support to the Consultants in Public Health and managers across a variety of topics.
  • Analyse varied and complex information and statistics, so focus and attention to detail are requisite.
  • Use your initiative to make informed decisions when unanticipated problems are present
  • Ensure that matters are dealt with efficiently and appropriately, prioritising your workload in order to confidentiality will essential.
