Public Health Specialist

Job description

The Devon Public Health Team is recruiting for two Public Health Specialists! These are exciting opportunities to improve Devon’s health and wellbeing.

Are you looking for an opportunity to develop and diversify your public health career? Are you looking for a new challenge?

Do you have the passion, vision, and leadership skills to shape, develop and drive Devon’s public health programmes at an exciting time of redevelopment and recovery?

Would you like to make a real difference to people’s lives while working in a stimulating and supportive environment by joining our friendly, dedicated and highly professional team?

We are redefining our health and wellbeing priorities for a strong and sustainable recovery, ensuring we are best placed to secure outstanding health outcomes and health equality across the county.

We are seeking highly motivated, curious, and committed individuals from a variety of backgrounds, to fill two exciting roles within our team.

The Public Health Specialist roles span all domains of public health, but these roles will have a key focus on improving the health and wellbeing of people with the poorest outcomes.

Working within a collaborative team and with a wide range of stakeholder organisations, you will provide leadership and support for the strategic development of agreed portfolio areas. Portfolio areas, which may change over time, include children, young people and families’ programmes, cardiovascular disease prevention, tobacco control and sexual health.

To be successful you will need to be educated to Masters level or equivalent in public health, an excellent communicator and team player with proven public health skills, passionate about health and wellbeing improvement, experienced in managing multiple workstreams and working across organisational boundaries, dynamic, collaborative, creative, adaptable and able to lead and develop staff teams.

A role with the Devon Public Health team will provide a stimulating career path, with plenty of opportunities to learn, grow and develop.  We are a collaborative team and have an excellent reputation for supporting career development within and beyond the region.
