The Islington Public Health Department is seeking to appoint a Public Health Strategist. The role will provide advice and support across the broad spectrum of public health, with a particular focus on working with our diverse communities to improve health and tackle inequalities. This will include taking the strategic lead for public health communications and campaigns as well as continuing to build on our place-based and community development approaches to empower residents to live healthy and flourishing lives.
Main duties of the job
You will bring a range of public health competencies to the department. You should be able to demonstrate:
A suitable postgraduate qualification in public health;
A strong track record in developing, delivering and evaluating public health programmes and campaigns;
A good understanding of different community engagement and development approaches for improving health and tackling inequalities;
Strong communication, negotiating and project management skills; and
A good understanding of the public health statutory responsibilities of the local authority in relation to health improvement, health protection and supporting NHS commissioners around health care provision.
