Research Director - Health Policy

Job description

Role : Research Director - Health PolicyLocation : London (Hybrid Working)Salary : £40,000-£54,616 (Depending on skills, experience and location)Department : Surveys, Data & Analysis - HealthContract : Full TimeThe purpose of this role is to contribute to new business generation, identify new business opportunities and lead on bids in key policy / methodological areas.Managing and delivering surveys, mixed methods, qualitative research and / or evaluations and other projects to budget and timetable.Supporting the leadership of the team with line management responsibility.Playing an active role in the wider life of NatCen, contributing to its success and development.Promoting NatCen, maintaining a visible presence in external networksKey ResponsibilitiesDirect individual research studies including large scale projects to time and budget.Manage and deliver surveys, mixed methods, qualitative research and / or evaluation projects to budget and timetable.Manage project teams to deliver first-class research to meet client needs.Provide advice, guidance and quality assurance for every aspect of the design, implementation, analysis and writing up of a study.Lead on proposals and applications for funding.Contribute to the development and mentoring of staff.Engage in impact activities to promote NatCen’s work externally.Contribute to teaching research methods internally and / or externally.Maintain and promote high ethical and information security standards.Skills, Knowledge and ExpertiseAn undergraduate degree.Experience of directing research projects and programmes relating to the policy areas / methodological areas outlined in the relevant role profile(s).A track record of securing funding for high quality research.Demonstrable methodological skills in one or more of the following : survey research, qualitative research, quantitative analysis or evaluation, and ability to lead qualitative, quantitative and mixed-methods research projects.Knowledge and expertise in methodological areas / policy areas outlined in the relevant role profile(s).Experience of leading, managing and developing teams.Excellent project management skills and the ability to manage project budgets.Ability to work flexibly and proactively on multiple concurrent research projects.Commitment to building and maintaining good relationships with partners and customers.Ability to build, manage and sustain internal relationships successfully.
