Our Health and Communities team’s mission is to make West Midlands a healthier place to live. To help us achieve our ambitions, we are recruiting a small team to join us on the journey.
As our Senior Delivery Manager for Healthy Communities and Mental Wellbeing, you’ll be responsible for delivering an ambitious programme of work which includes:
taking forward the legacy of the West Midlands Mental Health Commission,
Implementation of a health in all policies approach across the organisation,
Leading on the next iteration of the health of the region report
linking with our work across other Combined Authorities nationally on understanding the role of CA’s in reducing health inequalities.
Bringing your specialist background in public health, you’ll work closely with local health leaders across the region.
You’ll be a key senior member of the Health and Communities team, working with other senior delivery managers to support the team and the directorate make a meaningful impact in improving the health of the region.
The role is fixed term until 31 March 2025.
Interviews will be held between 9 and 11 August 2023.
About you
We’re looking for someone who has experience of working in public health, with particular focus on mental health, health improvement, health inequalities or other similar related policy area.
You’ll have led and delivered health related programmes, have proven leadership skills and be confident when speaking with senior leaders.
Essential experience of
Researching complex issues
Working within public health
Working with and analysing health intelligence and data
Writing reports and preparing briefings in a policy environment
Working effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to achieve and communicate shared goals
Leading and delivering health related programmes and/or policy areas
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
Knowledge of health and care system and understanding impact of wider determinants of health
In depth understanding of the main healthcare, public health and mental wellbeing challenges, agendas and their significance
Excellent written skills, with the ability to accurately summarise and convey complex information
High political and commercial awareness, with the ability to exercise discretion, judgement and confidentiality
Ability to deal with politicians and key stakeholders at every level, and work in partnership and across boundaries to achieve results
Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise work to meet deadlines
Ability to use research and analysis to help identify and/or resolve complex issues and challenges
Ability to work independently as well as a member of a cross-functional team
