Senior Environmental Health - Environmental Protection Officer

Job description

Broxbourne Council is looking for an experienced environmental health / environmental protection officer to join a friendly and progressive team.You will be expected to take the lead in environmental protection work and therefore will be expected to have extensive experience of environmental protection work, which includes investigating statutory nuisance, air quality including drafting and submitting Annual Status Reports in addition to experience in developing Air Quality Action Plans, reviewing planning applications, contaminated land assessment, preparing prosecution cases and attending court.You will also be expected to take the lead on processing Section 61 Prior Consent Applications, experience in noise & vibration control, noise and odour mitigation for Kitchen Extract Ventilation Systems and experience in enforcing smoke control areas.You must also demonstrate excellent customer care skills, have a full valid driving licence and be willing to work on rota to cover the Council’s out of hours noise and licensing service.It is essential that you hold a relevant degree in the environmental protection field or a Degree / Diploma in Environmental Health and be EHORB registered.Ideally you will have a Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control.The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in fluent English is essential in this post.
