Role Title : Academic Support Officer
The Academic Support Officer (ASO) is a crucial postholder in our academic management structure with the specific responsibility of ensuring that a designated group of students take maximum advantage of the opportunities on offer at Regent College London and fulfill their potential full potential.
The role encompasses the full job description of the Academic Assessor (AA) role, plus the academic management responsibilities detailed below.
Instead of the average 15-18 hours of teaching per week expected of the AA role, the ASO role is granted remission of teaching hours in order to fulfill the role of ASO.
The ASO will therefore be expected to deliver these hours of teaching per week as part of a semester / block programme, with an appropriate level of remission of teaching hours agreed depending on the specifics of workload.
The role is part of an academic team all members of which are unified in their teaching
responsibilities by the AA role; an element of teaching responsibility is common to all :
Partnership Lead ensures that the School meets exceeds the expectation of our partner institutions
Programme Leader Ensures the academic planning and implementation of programmes and constituent modules, with line management responsibilities for AAs and coordination of designated module leaders
Module Leader AA with responsibility for planning, coordination, delivery and evaluation of individual module as agree with Programme Leader
Academic Support Officer Supports students to engage with their taught programmes to fulfil their potential
Academic Assessor The role of teacher of our students, charged with delivery of teaching programmes and assessment of student performance.
Your line manager (for pastoral and welfare support, routine communication, performance appraisal) will be a nominated PL, but note that your will need to work closely with other PLs and other members of academic teams responsible for teaching the students in your allocated Hub.
