Service Development Manager - Health Improvement (Public Health)

Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic, energetic, results focused and change driven individual to join our growing, dynamic and busy team focused on improving the health and wellbeing of the population, strategic planning and partnership development within the wider Public Health Directorate of Hywel Dda University Health Board.
As a Service Development Manager, you will play a key role in forging partnerships with and influencing all key stakeholders with a focus on your portfolio areas of responsibility. You will be responsible for oversight of implementation and delivery of key elements of the Health Improvement and Wellbeing Team’s vision and strategic plan.
You will work with partners to ensure the programmes are aligned with the broader context, and are visible as well as tailored to reduce health inequalities and improve health and wellbeing.

The role is a new and exciting population health improvement role with the opportunity for the post holder to shape the agenda amidst a changing landscape, and will cover the Hywel Dda region.  

Main duties of the job

You will be a pivotal and central role within the team with responsibility for leading on the following:

  • Further development and implementation of the smoking cessation and wellbeing service model, with the Head of Health Improvement & Wellbeing, in line with the priorities outlined in the health improvement team strategic objectives.
  • Providing leadership of certain aspect of the tobacco control agenda – specifically around the delivery of Smoke Free settings, Prevention and Early intervention programmes and the establishment of a local Tobacco Control Board.
  • To lead on the Health Coach model, ensuring high quality, evidence based and innovative service delivery, which is responsive to service user/ patient needs.
  • To take a population health approach to service development and delivery, and the development of clear service and population level output and outcome measures.
  • To lead service evaluation and health promotion campaigns in line with public health methodologies.
