Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (School Nurse)
NHS Tayside has an opportunity for enthusiastic and motivated School Nurses to join our team. We have full time posts across NHS Tayside School Nursing Service.
As an experienced and innovative nurse you can help develop good physical and emotional health and well being for children and young people, assisting them to attain their full potential. You will work in partnership with children and young people, alongside their families and carers.
School Nursing Practitioners work within a wider multi agency team e.g. education, social work , police etc., including third sector to identify and support health and well being needs for a designated population of school age children and young people based on the principles of Getting It Right for Every Child (GIRFEC) National Practice Model. 
The Covid Pandemic has impacted on everyone, but in particular our children & young people. Their lives have been significantly disrupted and for many it has resulted in difficult challenges. Through partnership working, School Nurses can offer support, interventions and signposting, while contributing to the Child and Young person’s Plan towards improved outcomes.
Candidates will have a working knowledge of child protection systems and be expected to provide accessible, safe, effective, person centred care as part of the School Nursing Service. Good communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills along with knowledge of IT systems is essential. The post holder will be accountable for caseload management and leadership, working as part of a team. The post holder is expected to support the Transformation of School Nursing by providing supervision and learning, supporting current and future Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN)/School Nursing Students.
Applicants must be a current Registered Nurse (NMC) and also have a post graduate Specialist Community Public Health Nurse Qualification in School Nursing, Health Visiting or Community Nursing and demonstrate transferable knowledge and skills.
