Student Specialist Community Public Health Nurse - Health Visiting

Job description

Looking to train as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse in Health Visiting? Join us in Somerset!
The course is run as a joint programme between Somerset Council Public Health and The University of the West of England. It is offered at BSc (Hons) degree - level 6 or Post Graduate Diploma - level 7.
BSc level 6 is normally offered to nurses who have achieved 120 credits at level 5. PGDip level 7 is offered to nurses who have a first degree in nursing or related subject. The course runs between January 2024 and January 2025 and is offered on a full-time basis.
On successful completion of the course there will be job opportunities to join our Specialist Public Health Nursing team with a period of preceptorship to continue to consolidate your new skills and develop your role.

Main duties of the job

Were working to improve the lives of people in Somerset and youll be a key part of that. Your day-to-day work will involve:

  • Undertaking thefully funded Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) courseto become a Health Visitor.
  • Practice and theory development to support understanding of the Healthy Child Programme
  • Working towards achieving SCPHN proficiencies through observed practice.
